How To Create A CName Record For Your SMS Reseller Platform

When setting up an SMS reseller account with Arkesel, you need to direct web traffic from a sub-domain to another Arkesel’s. You will need to set up a CNAME record for that purpose.
Canonical Name, also popularly known as CNAME is an entry within the Domain Name System (DNS) that specifies where someone can find your web pages. With the help of CNAME, you can generate alternative hostnames that transform your cPanel into a sort of traffic cop, redirecting traffic where you need it to go.

Creating a CNAME record can be done by following these simple steps below:

  1.  Log into your cPanel-WHM account.
The option to be selected is highlighted.
  1. In the cPanel main menu, navigate to the “Domains” section and click the ‘Zone Editor’ tool or the ‘DNS Functions’ section from the Home and click on ‘Edit DNS Zone’ in your WHM server.
  2. Locate your Domain and click on the “MANAGE” button next to it.
  1. Click on the “Add Record” or “Add New Entries“.
  1. Here you will see the default fields including Name, TTL, and then a drop-down menu to select which record you would like to add.  Click on the Select drop-down menu and choose CNAME. In the first field enter your CNAME entry like SMS, account, client, or dashboard. Eg. dashboard.arkesel.com
  2. Enter resellers.arkesel.com in the available field(Record), then click the Save / Add Record button.
NB: It is advisable to leave the TTL at its default value(i.e 14400).That is it, the CNAME record has been set up, keep in mind it will take around 30 minutes to be publicly available.

So there it is, that is how a CNAME is created and how it is used to set up your SMS reseller platform. Visit www.arkesel.com for further information.
